Mods Overview
GW Launcher can inject two kinds of mods into the game as it launches:
- DLL plugins (
.dll, or.lnkshortcuts to a.dll) — code mods like GWToolbox. See DLL Plugins. - TexMods (
.tpf,.zip) — texture replacements, loaded natively via gMod (no uMod needed). See TexMods.
Three ways to load a mod
There are three sources, and they stack:
| Source | Applies to | How |
|---|---|---|
gwlauncher\plugins\ |
Every account | Drop files in a plugins folder next to GW_Launcher.exe. |
<gw-install>\plugins\ |
Only accounts launched from that game folder | Drop files in a plugins folder next to that copy’s Gw.exe. |
| Per-account list | One specific account | Add them in the account’s Mod Manager. |
The two plugins-folder sources are only used for an account when its Use mods in plugin
folders box is ticked.
Per-account mods
To attach mods to a single account regardless of folders:
Edit accountModsAdd ModThe Mod Manager lists your mods grouped into DLLs and TexMods. Pick Add Mod to browse for files and Remove Selected to drop them.
Load order
Mods load in alphabetical order of filename. This matters for TexMods: a texture already
replaced by 1_FirstTexmod.tpf won’t be overridden by 2_SecondTexmod.tpf. Name files with a
numeric prefix to control precedence — see TexMods.
