Installing & Updating GW
Guild Wars updates its own game data when it launches, but the Gw.exe itself occasionally
gets a new build. GW Launcher can check every account and fetch the latest executable for you.
Update all clients
Right-click the listUpdate All ClientsThis:
- Prompts to restart as administrator if needed (writing into
Program Filesrequires it). - Checks each account’s
Gw.exeversion against the latest available build. - Lists any out-of-date accounts and asks to Update now?
- Downloads and replaces the executable for the accounts you confirm, with a progress window.
If everything is current you’ll see “No accounts are out of date.”
The download uses Guild Wars’ own file-delivery protocol (the same tech behind gMod), so you get the official executable — not a third-party mirror.
Automatic checks
GW Launcher also checks for client updates in the background when it starts, so you’re nudged when a new build lands. You can still trigger a manual check any time with Update All Clients.
Updating the launcher itself
That’s separate from updating the game. See Settings → Updates for the Check for updates and Auto update options that keep GW Launcher current.
