Run Multiple Accounts
Guild Wars only lets one client run per installation folder. To play several accounts at the same time, give each one its own copy of the game, then point an account at each copy.
1. Copy your Guild Wars installation
For every extra client you want running simultaneously, make a full copy of the game folder:
- Copy
C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\to a new folder, e.g.Guild Wars (Copy 2),Guild Wars (Copy 3)… - Each copy must contain both
Gw.exeandGw.dat.
Once your copies are set up, GW Launcher can keep each one current — see
Updating clients to pull the latest Gw.exe for every account at once.
2. Point one account at each copy
Add (or edit) an account per copy and set its Path to the Gw.exe inside that copy:
So account A → Guild Wars\Gw.exe, account B → Guild Wars (Copy 2)\Gw.exe, and so on.
3. Launch them
Double-click each account, or select several and use Launch Selected:
Select accountsLaunch SelectedEach client runs from its own folder, and the Active column shows which accounts are currently in. The launcher renames each window to its character/title so you can tell them apart.
Notes
- Each copy keeps its own settings, screenshots, and
GWToolbox/plugin folder. They start as a clone of the original but diverge from then on. - Running many clients is CPU/RAM heavy — that’s a hardware limit, not a launcher one.
- Per-installation plugins live in
<that copy>\plugins\; see DLL Plugins.
